Unicamp records record number of registrants in the 'Olympic Vacancies' modality

The Permanent Commission for Unicamp Entrance Exams (Comvest) recorded a record number of applications for the “Unicamp 2023 Olympic Vacancies” modality, which is one of the possibilities for admission to Unicamp’s undergraduate courses. The number of applicants rose from 852 to 1.122 candidates. The demand for this entry system had already grown significantly in the last edition, when it practically doubled, from 468 to 852 registrants. For entry in 2023, 122 places are offered, in 33 course options. You The most sought after courses are in the area of ​​Exact Sciences, accounting for 89,5% of those enrolled, followed by courses in the area of ​​Biological Sciences, with 10% of the demand. The list of candidates-vacancy by course is available on the Comvest website: www.comvest.unicamp.br. Another highlight is the percentage of women registered, which increased compared to previous years, rising from 24% in 2021, to 38,4% in 2022 and 40,6% of total registrations for entry in 2023.

This is the fifth edition of the Olympic Vacancies modality at Unicamp. Students from public and private schools, medalists or excellent performers in high school knowledge competitions accepted in the process, are enrolled.

The director of Comvest, José Alves de Freitas Neto, assessed the record as positive, both for Unicamp and for the knowledge competitions. “The University benefits from attracting students with excellent performance in certain areas of knowledge. They also win the Olympics, as they can have an additional attraction in their competitions, with the offer of places at universities like Unicamp”, said José Alves.

The director of Comvest commented on the increase in demand from female students. “Considering that most of the vacancies we offer in this modality are in the area of ​​Exact Sciences, the increase in demand from female students represents a major advance, as traditionally this is an area, worldwide, occupied mainly by men. In this way, we move forward, as a gender inclusion policy related to the knowledge Olympics”, stated José Alves.

How is the classification

In this entry modality, candidates do not need to take any tests and, in each course, they are called in descending order of the score obtained in the olympiad or knowledge competition, for the course in 1st option, according to the rules of the Notice. If there are unfilled vacancies, candidates who chose the course as their 2nd option are called in descending order.
