Unicamp has prepared a series of activities to welcome its new students starting this Thursday (2). With the theme "Autonomy in Defense of Science and Science in Defense of Life”, Calourada 2023 will feature activities that begin early in the morning and end in the late afternoon. There will be everything from music shows, competitions and conversations about the services offered by the University to lectures on sustainability.
The official reception will start at 9:30 am at Teatro de Arena, with the presence of the rector, Antonio José de Almeida Meirelles, the general coordinator of the University, Maria Luiza Moretti, and the dean of Undergraduate Studies, Ivan Toro. The executive director of Human Rights, Sílvia Santiago, and other deans are also expected to participate in the program. The dean and dean of Undergraduate Studies will still participate in the reception that will take place in Limeira, at the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Faculty of Technology.
“I would like to welcome the new students. Give them all a hug and tell them they are all very welcome. I would like to say that with all the difficulties that we may have at the University, they can be sure that here they will have one of the best training that our country can offer”, said the rector.
Delivery of the ticket kit to freshmen, which will take place exclusively at the Multidisciplinary Gymnasium, begins at 9 am and continues throughout the day. The kit contains an ecological bag, t-shirt, mug and a passport for the university restaurant.
At 10 am, the Dean of Extension and Culture (Proec) participates in the presentation of the bodies that make up the University, in the lobby of the Academic Board (DAC). The Exploratory Science Museum and the Ecobrinquedoteca will also offer rocket launching and “Create and Play, valuing Reuse” workshops, respectively. At noon, the Orquestra Patrulheiros de Campinas will perform in the same space.
In Limeira, the program will start at 10:30 am, with lectures on sustainability — “What I experienced in environmental management” and “Environmental Management: learn about the rules of the game at Unicamp”.
The Calourada will also have guidance on scholarships and grants and student support services, which will be available to the student throughout the academic year. Because of this, there will be a lecture on student permanence with participation from Student Support Service (SAE) bodies, such as Social Service, Educational Guidance, Student Housing Coordination and the Psychological and Psychiatric Assistance Service (Sappe).
Special attraction
Proec's Directorate of Culture (DCult), in partnership with the Dean of Undergraduate Studies (PRG), will promote the first DCult Stage of the year, with rapper Rico Dalasam. Since 2015, when he released his first work — the EP “Modo Diverso” —, the artist has been consolidating himself as one of the main bets in contemporary national music, by narrating life experiences as a young, black, gay, resident of the outskirts of Greater São Paul.
His latest release was the EP “Fim das Tentativas”, featuring Céu and the band Tuyo. The show will take place on Thursday (2), at 17 pm, at Teatro de Arena da Unicamp, to mark the closing of Calourada 2023.
Orchestra welcomes
On Friday, the 3rd, the Unicamp Symphony Orchestra (OSU) will hold its traditional welcome concert welcoming freshmen and seniors from Unicamp. Under the direction of conductor Cinthia Alireti, the performance takes place from 12:30 pm at Teatro de Arena, on the Campinas campus. In the repertoire, a selection ranging from Carlos Gomes to Beethoven, a piece by the conductor (Sustainable disco beat) and arrangements by violinist, Ivenise Nitchepurenco, with works on songs by Jorge Ben Jor and Martinho da Vila.
Coral Zipper in the Mouth
Coral Zíper na Boca also performs, on the 8th, 9th and 10th of March, concerts of welcome to the freshmen of 2023. On the 8th, the presentation takes place at 12:30 pm, at Teatro de Arena.
