The Coronavirus Contingency Scientific Committee at Unicamp monitors the evolution of Covid-19 in the three fields, in the three host cities, in the State, in the country and in the world.
In view of the most recent health guidelines from state and municipal authorities regarding the use of masks in the context of the covid-19 pandemic, the State University of Campinas informs its entire community of students, teachers and staff about its new guidelines.
1. Mandatory use of surgical or PFF2 type masks throughout the healthcare sector.
2. Mandatory use of surgical or PFF2 type masks for respiratory symptoms, in any environment.
3. Optional use of surgical or PFF2 type masks in closed environments, such as classrooms, libraries, laboratories, chartered buses, etc.
4. Strongly recommended use of surgical or PFF2 type masks in all environments for pregnant women, individuals with serious comorbidities*, immunosuppressed patients** and elderly people over 70 years of age.
5. Strongly recommended use of surgical or PFF2 type masks for DEdIC employees (Division of Early Childhood and Complementary Education) during work activities with children up to two years old.
6. Strong recommendation to adopt collective protective measures, such as frequent hand hygiene (washing with soap and water or rubbing with 70% alcohol gel) and respiratory etiquette.
7. Strong recommendation for complete vaccination against Covid-19, with at least one booster dose for those over 18 years of age and additional doses according to the schedule defined by the health authorities. It is requested that vaccination data be entered into the systems of DAC (Academic Board), DGRH (General Directorate of Human Resources) and Funcamp (Unicamp Development Foundation).
Observation: immunization against covid-19 is available at Cecom (Community Health Center), from 8:30 am to 17:30 pm, daily, through advance scheduling.
8. Recommendation for faster meals, with as little dialogue as possible between those who frequent university restaurants and canteens.
9. Crowds, such as parties or large events, should be avoided.
10. Continuity of face-to-face classes, with the help of educational robots for the inclusion of students on leave due to suspected or confirmed Covid-19 – people with respiratory symptoms should not attend classes in person fields university students and must follow the guidelines contained in the Rapid Orientation Protocols (PROs).

The new guidelines come into force from March 3, 2023.
* Diabetes mellitus, severe chronic lung disease, severe heart disease, morbid obesity (BMI ≥40).
** Severe primary immunodeficiency; solid organ or hematopoietic stem cell transplants (HSCT) using immunosuppressive drugs; people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) with CD4 < 200 cells/mm³ (last six months) or absence/abandonment of treatment; use of corticosteroids in doses ≥20 mg/day of prednisone, or equivalent, for a period of ≥14 days, or in pulse therapy with methylprednisolone; chronic renal failure; chronic inflammatory, autoimmune and autoinflammatory immune-mediated diseases; patients with oncological diseases who underwent chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatment in the last six months.
