The philosopher, environmentalist and writer Ailton Krenak comes to Unicamp for the launch of the Sustainability Trail of the University's School of Corporate Education (Educorp). He will give a talk on Friday (10), in the auditorium of the Faculty of Medical Sciences (FCM), at 10 am.
The trail is a partnership between Educorp, the Ecological Change Advisory Committee and Environmental Justice (Cameja) of Unicamp and the Executive Directorate of Integrated Planning (Depi) and will be made up of meetings throughout the year, addressing topics such as sustainability, climate emergency, sustainable consumption, environmental education, waste, food sovereignty, energy security and sustainable mobility.
"Sustainability is a fundamental theme for Brazil today and for the planet. We are going through a climate emergency. It is no wonder that we had extreme events throughout January and February. They are more intense and bring human and material losses. We At the university we have an obligation to bring this issue up for debate”, says professor Sonia Seixas, president of Cameja.
For her, Krenak's arrival at Unicamp to address the issue is a privilege. “He is a very important person in the environmental area and has all the history of having been a constituent deputy”, she assesses.
Ailton Krenak is one of the country's main indigenous leaders. Born in Itabirinha, he moved to Paraná as a teenager and became a journalist and graphic producer. In the 1980s, involved in indigenous activism, he participated in the Constituent Assembly process. Krenak is also a philosopher and poet and recently published the works Ancestral Future, Ideas for postponing the end of the world e Life is not useful.
