IdEA issues a note of condolence for the death of professor Erney de Camargo

Unicamp's Institute for Advanced Studies (IdEA) regretfully announces the death of professor Erney Plessmann de Camargo, member of its Scientific and Cultural Council, on March 3, at the age of 87. The doctor was a professor at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICB) at the University of São Paulo (USP) and was part of the IdEA Board since its first composition, in 2017, when the body was created with the function of supporting the formulation of management policy academic, administrative and financial aspects of the Institute.

Professor Erney de Camargo has been a member of the IdEA Board since 2017 

Parasitologist and protozoologist, he was professor emeritus at USP, where he worked on diversity, taxonomy, phylogeny and evolution of trypanosomatids. Camargo graduated in Medicine (1959) from USP, the institution from which he also obtained his doctorate (1969) and professorship (1979). He was a full professor at the ICB and the Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp), pro-rector of Research at USP, director of the Butantan Institute and president of the National Technical Commission for Biosafety (CTNBio) and the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq ).
