The movement abroad of highly qualified Brazilian professionals in the areas of science, technology and innovation is the subject of ongoing research at the Center for Public Policy Studies (Nepp), at Unicamp. Brazilian graduates and postgraduates in the field of CT&I can collaborate with the study, as well as professionals who work in companies and startups as well as in universities, research institutes, laboratories and public bodies.
Funded by Fapesp (Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo) and coordinated by researcher Ana Maria Alves Carneiro da Silva, the project aims to investigate the sociodemographic and professional profiles of this movement, the networks and initiatives for insertion abroad and the dynamics of cooperation with residents of Brazil.
The study is expected to discover the impact of this phenomenon on the country's scientific and technological developments, providing subsidies to, in the future, create earning opportunities (both for Brazil and for professionals in the field here and abroad) and for the development of public policies.
