The Permanent Commission for Unicamp Entrance Exams (Comvest) announced this Tuesday (21) that it will introduce specific questions of philosophy and sociology in the 2024 entrance exam. It also announced that High School training paths will not be content required in the test , the first phase of which is scheduled for October 29th.
According to the director of Comvest, Josis Alves de Freitas Neto, three questions from philosophy and three from sociology will be included in the 1st phase of the exam. So that the total number of questions in the test is not increased, Comvest decided to reduce the number of questions in other subjects from eight to seven.
With the strategy, the Commission opens up space for issues related to these contents, which were previously diluted in areas such as history and geography. In total, the Unicamp Entrance Exam has 72 questions. Previously, it consisted of 24 questions from the Natural Sciences area — physics, chemistry and biology — and 16 from Human Sciences and Arts. The change, according to the director, aims to give more balance to the test.
According to Alves, the change also aims to make clear the importance of these contents in the training of high school students.
In the 2nd phase, changes occur on the second day of tests — scheduled for the 3rd and 4th of December. They impact the areas of Biological and Health Sciences and the areas of Human Sciences and Arts.

The number of mathematics questions will be smaller for those who choose the Humanities area, dropping from six to four questions. For those taking the Biology exam, the number of questions related to Biology increases from six to eight, and the number of mathematics questions also decreases from six to four. The reason, according to the professor, is the same in both situations.
“We will have the possibility of deepening knowledge in Biological Sciences for Health personnel and the use of open questions in the areas of Sociology and Philosophy for personnel in the area of Humanity and Arts”, he explained. “In this way, we believe we have an updated test, but with the same characteristics”, he added.
The teacher recalled that there is great concern on the part of candidates, related to changes in high school. He assured that this subject was the subject of debates with teachers, coordinators of public and private schools, prep courses, popular prep courses and teams that are involved in preparing entrance exams.
“It is important to say that the Comvest test maintains the same characteristics, with the 1st phase having more basic and general content by discipline and, in the 2nd phase, by area of knowledge”, argues the professor. “We will exclusively charge, in the 2nd phase, knowledge and content that is in the basic part, common to all high school students. That is, Portuguese, mathematics, English, Human Sciences and Natural Sciences. And within Natural Sciences, the disciplines according to the areas of knowledge”, he explains.
Training paths
The director of Comvest says that the training paths will not be required content in the Unicamp test. “The training paths are so varied — and very interesting —, but they are not included as required content in the Unicamp test,” he said. “They come as training, cultural background, which will certainly help in solving writing tests or other issues, but they will not be a requirement”, he adds. “No content will be charged for the Unicamp test”, she reinforces.
Unicamp will require, exclusively, those contents that are part of the basic, general and common training for all high school students. In the case of candidates for Biological courses, for example, there will be questions on biology and chemistry, in addition to general aspects of Human Sciences and Natural Sciences.
In the Exact Sciences area, there will be questions on mathematics, physics and chemistry and basic knowledge of Human Sciences and Natural Sciences. For those in the Humanities area, the test will have questions on history, geography, sociology and philosophy, in addition to basic knowledge of Natural Sciences and Humanities. “In this way, we believe that the test will be appropriate to the students’ experience and that there will be no major losses for them”, concludes professor José Alves.
Project Create Unicamp
Comvest also launched this Tuesday (21), the Cria Unicamp program — which aims to bring together students to analyze, in the classroom, the list of literary works nominated and that may be required in the test. There will be nine Saturdays, each day with a work to be discussed. In each edition, a mandatory reading work required in the Entrance Exam and a subject will be covered. The first event takes place on April 29th with a class on the book Alice in Wonderland and the subject of Biology. The expectation is to offer 200 places. Registration for Cria Unicamp can be made between April 10th and 17th, at Comvest page.
