Seventy Unicamp professors are part of the ranking of the best scientists in the world

Seventy Unicamp professors are included in the second edition of the ranking of the best scientists in the world in various areas of knowledge. The survey was recently published by the academic portal Research.com. The position of each researcher is based on the so-called D-index (Discipline H-index), which exclusively considers the number of articles and number of citations for each discipline examined. To make the selection, bibliometric data from several sources were combined, including OpenAlex e CrossRef. The information was collected in December 2022.

Professor José Mario Martínez, from the Institute of Mathematics, Statistics and Scientific Computing, was ranked 1º place in the national ranking, in the area of ​​engineering and technology, ranking 996ª  global position. In the area of ​​mathematics, the teacher was also very well placed, in 2º place in the national ranking and 680ª position in the world rankings. 

Another highlight is professor José Cláudio Geromel, from the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, who ranked 1stº place in the national ranking in the area of ​​electrical and electronic engineering and in the world position at 1.150. The professor at the Chemistry Institute Nelson Durán came in 2ndº place in Brazil in the area of ​​Chemistry and in 1.217º in the world rankings. 

Professor Fernando Cendes, from the Faculty of Medical Sciences, was also classified in two areas of knowledge. In Brazil, it is found in 14º place in neuroscience and in 19º in medicine.
