Unicamp has everything ready for the 18th edition of the Unicamp Open Doors Program – UPA 2023. The event will be held this Saturday (19), starting at 9am, on the Barão Geraldo campus, in Campinas. This year, the University received applications from more than 500 schools across the State of São Paulo, in addition to applications from Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and Mato Grosso do Sul, totaling more than 36 thousand students.
“University life at Unicamp is vibrant, with countless possibilities for socializing and creating new knowledge in its various spaces. In 2022 we were pleased to welcome more than 32 thousand visitors to UPA. And this year we reiterate the desire for each student to experience a little of our transformative universe”, comments Maria Luiza Moretti, general coordinator of Unicamp.
The schedule of activities to be carried out at faculties and institutes is now available on UPA website, in the “Programming” tab. In addition to these activities, participants will be able to learn about important bodies and services for university life, such as libraries, cultural spaces and the Student Support Service (SAE). Throughout the day, the Arena Theater and Palco Saúde will host diverse cultural attractions and, at 11am, the Executive Secretariat for Communication (SEC) will present a special program, live, directly from the Cesar Lattes Central Library (BCCL), broadcast through the University's social networks.
Registration for schools is now closed, but individual or group visits are free. Check below the guidelines for the UPA 2023 activity day for schools and individual visitors.
Disembarkation and embarkation of vehicles from registered schools
Buses, minibuses and vans from registered schools and educational institutions will disembark at the BCCL area, on Avenida Érico Veríssimo, in front of the Faculty of Physical Education (FEF). Alternatively, it could take place on Avenida Martin Luther King, with access through the gate next to the Archives System (Siarq). Signs indicating the event reception location will be installed in these spaces.
It is necessary for schools to bring a printed form generated from the instructions sent by email. It must include the name and contact telephone number of the teacher responsible for the school during the visit and also the name and telephone number of the driver of the vehicle.
Upon leaving the event, boarding of registered vehicles will take place on platforms on Avenida Érico Veríssimo. There will be 15 specific platforms for boarding to take place until 16:30 pm. The release of vehicles into the parking lot will be subject to authorization made at the Reception tent. Teachers responsible for the vehicle must go to the tent to be directed to one of the platforms.
Closures of roads, circulation areas and parking of individual vehicles
Closures: All streets leading to Praça do Ciclo Básico will be closed on the day of the event. The space will be exclusive for visitors on foot.
Parking: We recommend that spaces be used on the roads and in existing spaces on Avenida Bertrand Russell.
Access to the campus: We suggest that visitors arrive in advance, as, after 8am, the bus flow is intense. Gate 1 (FEF/University Restaurant) will serve as exclusive access for buses. The other entrances will be open normally.
Accessibility: In the vicinity of Praça do Ciclo Básico, visitors with disabilities and/or reduced mobility will be able to use the Accessible Vehicle for Sustainable Urban Mobility (Vamus), a recent initiative by the University City Council. The electric vehicle allows trips that benefit people with reduced mobility and their companions.
Food
There will be three food courts with diverse options and affordable prices to serve visitors. Two of them will be located close to the Multidisciplinary Gymnasium – at the Praça do Ciclo Básico and in the Parking Lot, behind the BCCL. The other food court will be located at the Faculty of Medical Sciences (FCM).
Will also be made available vending machines, with snack and drink options, installed in 60 locations on campus.
Access to Unicamp's Wi-Fi network and UPA app
To access the Wi-Fi network for free at various points on the campus, simply connect to the “UPA” network, open the browser and enter the UPA website, through which the user will be redirected to the access page in order to carry out the authentication process using a Facebook or Google account.
Download the Unicamp de Portas Abertas app, available on the Play Store for Android users and on the App Store for iOS users. With it, you can consult the schedule, trace routes to travel around campus and access the UPA website, Unicamp website and emergency contacts.
Support space for visiting teachers
Teachers from schools registered for the event can use our Teachers' Room, a space prepared for rest and other services. It will be installed in the rooms on the first floor of Ciclo Básico II, on Rua Sérgio Buarque de Holanda, in front of the University Restaurant.
