Unicamp's Permanent Commission for Entrance Exams (Comvest) recorded a 5% growth in the number of candidates for the 2024 Entrance Exam, compared to last year. 64.705 students are registered, competing for 2.537 places in 69 undergraduate courses. In the previous year, the number registered was 61.626 candidates, and in 2022, 63.301. Comvest also released the candidate-vacancy relationship per course. This year, 13,7 thousand students chose to automatically register for the Enem-Unicamp modality, available on the Entrance Exam form. The number represents an acceptance of 84% of candidates with the profile to make the choice (public school students). The percentage is slightly higher than the 82% recorded last year, when the possibility was first offered.

Among the most sought after courses in the Unicamp 2024 Entrance Exam, the demand for careers in the field of Computing stands out, with three courses among the 10 most sought after in the Entrance Exam: Computer Science (82 candidates per vacancy), Computer Engineering (48 w/ v) and Technology in Systems Analysis and Development (23 c/v). The rates maintain a trend that began to be observed in the last edition, when the evening Computer Science course went from 1.951 enrolled to 3.034 candidates and, now, it has reached 3.288. The 10 most sought after careers in the 2024 Entrance Exam are: Medicine; Architecture and urbanism; Computer Science; Biological Sciences; Computer engineering; Social Communication – Medialogy; Pharmacy; History; Economic Sciences (Full and Evening); and Nursing. The average candidate-vacancy ratio increased from 24,3 to 25,5 this year.

According to the director of Comvest, José Alves de Freitas Neto, “A relevant fact is that the growth in enrollees was not reflected in the Medicine course, but the 5% increase was distributed across other courses. The demand for the Computer Science course, which has once again grown, is a thermometer of Unicamp's prestige in these careers in the field of Computing”.

Another fact that caught attention was the increase in demand for candidates from other states in the country. Comvest recorded an increase in the number of registrants in practically all capitals in which the Entrance Exam exams are administered, especially in Fortaleza and Salvador, where growth was 36% and 24% respectively. Only Curitiba saw a drop in candidates, going from 792 to 583 this year. The tables with the complete competition and the total number of entrants per race city are available on the Comvest website.

José Alves assessed the drop in Curitiba and stated that “it may be related to the fact that an important public university in Paraná, UEL (Universidade Estadual de Londrina), holds the test on the same date as Unicamp”, he said. The director considered the idea of replacing, this year, the city of Santa Bárbara D'Oeste with Americana as a good idea. “The decision to apply the test in Americana proved to be the right one when we analyzed the number of 1.344 applicants, which was much higher than the demand that existed in the previous city, Santa Bárbara D' Oeste, with 847 candidates last year. This shows that we are closer to the candidates from that region”, said José Alves.

Inclusion

All indices of subscribers to social inclusion profiles showed an increase compared to last year. The percentage of candidates exempt from the fee rose from 12,3% to 13,7% of the total number of applicants. Comvest registered 20,5% of self-declared black and brown candidates, compared to 19,6% in the previous year. The percentage of those opting for quotas was 12,2% compared to 11,1% in the previous entrance exam. The percentage of students from public schools was 30,7%, slightly higher than the 30,2% in the last edition.
