Retired teacher Débora de Queiroz Tavares dies

The Unicamp Rectory, through this note, regrets the death of retired professor Débora de Queiroz Tavares, which occurred this Thursday, September 28th. Débora was the wife of Professor Emeritus and former dean of Unicamp Hermano Tavares, who directed the University from 1998 to 2002. 

Débora Tavares has accumulated academic experience over 25 years. She retired from the Faculty of Food Engineering (FEA), in 2008, and remained at FEA, as a guest professor, until 2009. In recent years, she worked as a collaborating professor at the Faculty of Applied Sciences (FCA) at Unicamp, in Limeira.

Graduated in Biology from the University of São Paulo (USP), the professor arrived at Unicamp for a doctorate in Cellular and Structural Biology, which she completed in 1976. In 2003, she became a full professor in Food Microstructure at FEA.    

The burial took place this Thursday, at the Saudade Cemetery, in Campinas.
