In July this year, the Federal Government sanctioned law number 14, which guarantees wage and employment equality between men and women. Unicamp is part of the Interministerial Working Group for the regulation of the law and for the creation of the National Plan for Salary and Labor Equality between Women and Men. The group is coordinated by two ministries: Women and Labor and Employment.
Brazilian women receive, on average, 78% of men's salaries, according to data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). Non-discrimination between genders is provided for in the Consolidation of Labor Laws (CLT) and in the Federal Constitution, but, in practice, women have been fighting against wage inequality for many decades.
In this edition of the Analisa program, the guest is professor Marilane Oliveira Teixeira, from the Unicamp Institute of Economics. She is a researcher at the Center for Trade Union and Labor Economic Studies (Cesit) and works in the interministerial GT.
