Unicamp registered progress in the 2024 edition of the ranking of the best universities in the world by areas of knowledge prepared by the British consultancy Times Higher Education (THE), considered one of the most prestigious organizations in the sector of international rankings of higher education institutions.
The advance was driven by improved performance in five of the nine areas of knowledge in which Unicamp could be evaluated. In four other areas, the University maintained the position obtained in the previous survey.
According to the research, Unicamp made progress in the areas of Arts and Humanities, Business/Economics, Medicine/Health, Engineering and Physical Sciences. In addition, it maintained positions in four other areas — Computer Science, Education, Life Sciences and Social Sciences.
In the case of Computing, Unicamp remained in the group classified between the 301 and 400 best institutions, but at the same level from PUC-Rio and USP, as the best in the country.
The ranking evaluates two other areas — Law and Psychology —, but these are courses not taught at Unicamp.
One of the most prominent areas in the new 2024 ranking was Business and Economy. At Unicamp, the area went from position 501-600 in the previous survey to position 301-400.
Significant progress was also recorded in the area of Physical Sciences, which jumped from group 501-600 to those classified between positions 401-500.
The area of Medicine and Health also changed its scale: from 301-400 in the 2023 ranking to 251-300 in this update. Engineering went from group 401-500 to 301-400.
The Arts and Humanities area also made a leap, moving from the group between 176-200 in the previous ranking to 126-150 now.
