April 10 - Infectious disease specialist at Unicamp, Luiz Jacinto da Silva stated that dengue will never be eradicated in the country. The epidemic in the country has already claimed more victims than last year. Data from the Ministry of Health indicate 124 cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever, with 17 deaths. A mortality rate that reaches almost 14%, well above that accepted by the World Health Organization. Brazil has 135 thousand cases of dengue, of which 15 thousand are in the state of São Paulo. Campinas confirmed more than 1,2 people with the disease. The municipality also recorded one death in March, when a resident of Hortolândia was hospitalized in the city.

A new computer program that gives high-quality voice to words written in Portuguese is in a final stage of development. The technology is being developed by Vocalize, a company residing in the Technology-Based Business Incubator at the State University of Campinas (Incamp), and the first prototype of the software is expected to be ready by July this year.
