The cordial man
Sérgio Buarque de Holanda would be 100 years old this July 11th. Having passed away in 1982, the memory of one of the most brilliant Brazilian intellectuals of the century (in the photo, in 1981, with his son Chico) is alive as ever. Historian, literary critic and journalist, Unicamp has the largest collection on his life and work. They are original works that marked the country's culture, books that he read and annotated, documents, personal objects and photographs. In this edition, Jornal da Unicamp publishes unpublished notes taken by Sérgio's widow, Maria Amélia Alvim Buarque de Holanda, about the writer who, in addition to inventing the “cordial man” thesis, was himself extremely intellectual and human generous. .
