Caos Cia de Teatro shines in the Department’s 20th anniversary
Directed by professor Alice K, Qio.Guem?! It was considered the best show of the event, receiving five awards. In the group of actors modality, the show shared first place with By Cameron, directed by professor Roberto Mallet, winner of the best scenario award alongside Leonel Carneiro. “The victory went to Caos Cia de Teatro, as his two shows, in addition to winning best ensemble of actors, were finalists in all categories”, says student Tetembua Dandara, producer of Caos and actress in the cast of Qio.Ghem?!.
In addition to the best group of actors, show and scenery, the company brought with it the taste of being the best in the categories, costumes, lighting, sound design and actor.
Murilo de Paula surprised the audience in the role of “demon” and “woman 2” in Qio. Guem. The creative and faithful to the text costumes were created in 2003, when the company was created to put on the show Vira Mundo Caravan. All the shows, according to the student, were put together for the Integrated Scenic Creation Project discipline.
East and West – Qio-Guem?! is based on the classic Japanese comedy Kyogem, for which the students achieved a marriage between Eastern expressions and Western stories. The show is created through stylized gestures based on the poetic imagination of the actors. According to Tetembua, the objective is not to copy the Oriental, but rather to work in above the exercise. “The first contact we had with the Kyogem original was with the scene Boshibari (tied to a stick), an exercise guided by teachers Alice K. and Roberto Mallet in 2004”, explains the actress.
Winning prizes was far from the purpose of the team of 21 students when taking scenery, costumes, equipment and talent to Santa Catarina. Getting in touch with the work of other universities had already been a rich experience, according to Tetembua, despite being aware of the intense work carried out by the team at both shows.
In the second semester, after having presented Forgive me for betraying me e Trail behind, in Campinas, they divide the classes and the preparation of the course conclusion show with presentations of Qio.Guem?!, from August 25th to September 12th, at Teatro da USP; It is By Cameron, in September (22, 23, 24 and 29) and October (30 and 31), at the Centro Cultural Vergueiro, in São Paulo.
