Essay on origin
Jean-Jacques Rousseau
Translation: Fulvia ML Moretto
It reveals the originality of Rousseau's conception of language and its consequences for understanding the ideas of truth and justice. By making music the paradigm of language, Rousseau would have given a new destiny to the old idea of rhetoric, shaking the edifice of classical philosophy. A posthumously published text with controversial dating, it remained in the shadows for two centuries, being rediscovered around 40 years ago.
