4 large aquifers
Researchers from Unicamp's Geosciences Institute (IG) delimited and named four large aquifers in the municipality of Campos dos Goytacazes, in the State of Rio de Janeiro. The size, importance and economic viability of the reservoirs were unknown, although it was known that the region had significant water resources.

Graciliano Ramos
50 years ago, the Alagoas writer Graciliano Ramos (above, in a drawing by Portinari), author of Vidas Secas and São Bernardo, died. For professor Carlos Eduardo Berriel, from the Institute of Language Studies (IEL) at Unicamp, much of Graciliano's work has yet to be evaluated in a more comprehensive way. page 9

Prostate
The incidence of prostate cancer is higher than one might imagine. The conclusion is from pathologist Carlos Alberto Fontes de Souza, who over the course of four years analyzed 150 autopsies of men who had died "with the disease and not from it". Of the 150 samples, 55 (36,6%) were positive. page 11
