Science loses César Lattes
 Brazilian science is in mourning. Physicist César Lattes, discoverer of the pi meson and one of the pioneers of the Gleb Wataghin Institute of Physics at Unicamp, died on the 8th, aged 80, in Campinas, after a cardiac arrest. The scientist, who received the titles of professor emeritus and doctor honoris causa from rector Carlos Henrique de Brito Cruz last October, was considered the most important living physicist in the country. The next edition of Jornal da Unicamp will be dedicated to Lattes' life and work.
