On the axis of war
of transgenics
Researcher Silvio Valle, from the Osvaldo Cruz Foundation, stated that the introduction of transgenic soybeans in Brazil is an act of bioterrorism that concerns the two largest producers in the world: the United States and Argentina, from where the seeds are smuggled. For the expert, misinformation only helps to consolidate the product in the country, and the scientific community has been used as a “masse for maneuver” by groups that are against and in favor of the introduction of transgenic soy. The president of the National Biosafety Association (ANBio), Leila Oda, agrees with Valle. “We are currently very susceptible to such an attack.” The researchers participated, on the 22nd, in the symposium “Biossecurity, Transgenics and Environment”, promoted by the Unicamp Biology Institute.
