Experts give the recipe for
What needs to be done to get there

Hunger and the problems arising from it will be at the center of the debate at the seminar “Assessment of Policies for Food Availability and Security”, which takes place on October 20th, in the Zeferino Vaz Auditorium, at the Institute of Economics (IE). In an interview with Jornal da Unicamp, two of the event organizers, professors and economists Walter Belik (on the left) and Antonio Márcio Buainain (on the right), both from IE, anticipate the themes that will be discussed at the seminar, analyze the combat programs to hunger and talk about food insecurity in Brazil.

Researchers from the Unicamp Chemistry Institute have just developed a methodology capable of differentiating transgenic, normal and organic soybeans. Identification, which has a high degree of accuracy, can be done in 30 seconds. The new technique can be used to analyze other agricultural products.

Unicamp won several national and international awards throughout this year. For the Dean of Research, Professor Fernando Costa (photo), “from an institutional point of view, the awards represent the importance of the professor's work for the University's insertion in the production of knowledge, with the recognition of their peers”.


Urban phenomena under debate

The forms and spaces that make up the urban phenomenon and its impacts on residents will be debated, from October 20th to 22nd, at the “IV International Meeting on Urban Knowledge and Language – Giros na Cidade: materialidade do Espaço”. The event is organized by the Urban Studies Laboratory (Labeurb).
