Researchers from the Public Policy Studies Center at Unicamp (NEPP) have just created the DNA Brazil Index, which measures the country's level of economic and social development. More comprehensive than the UN's Human Development Index (HDI), which limits its approach to just three variables (education, longevity and GDP per capita), the Unicamp study reveals indicators of seven dimensions of the Brazilian reality: economic well-being ; economic competitiveness; socio-environmental conditions; education; health; basic social protection; and social cohesion. The work, carried out in partnership with the Instituto DNA Brasil, was launched on the 18th, in Campos do Jordão. The study will be used as a tool for formulating public policies.
