Professor at the Institute of Linguistics and Language Studies of the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil. On Faculty (Department of Applied Linguistics) since 1981.
As a linguist specialized in Discourse Analysis, my two main research concerns are:
1. language and identity.
2. language education.
3. Projects and publications on representation
of language and national identity in political essays on
language issues. Focus on the period of large scale immigration
and national organization in Latin America Southern Cone
countries. Study of the consequences regarding socio-cultural
identity issues and cultural heterogeneity in South America
today.
4. Case-Studies on the transcultural component
in the language curriculum, and on the reading and writing
learning process at the university and high school levels.
Current project: Bilingual anthologies
as discursive representation of cultural identity and as
instructional materials.
